Life At Wychwood

Life at WychwoodWe aim for Wychwood House to be a caring, home from home for our permanent, respite and day residents. We get to know our residents, their individual habits, preferences and needs. We are also responsive to a resident's changing requirements as time passes and adapt accordingly, so Wychwood is a home for life, if that is what a resident chooses.

Daily Life

For each resident, life at Wychwood is very individual. Residents may sleep in or get to bed when they choose, we do not impose a set time upon them.

Residents are supported in washing and dressing on a daily basis, if that is what is required

In the morning, a choice of cereals or cooked breakfast is offered. The menu is discussed with residents and changed regularly to take into account not only changes of season, but also personal preferences. At Wychwood, we are particularly concerned to ensure that residents are properly hydrated and residents are encouraged to drink regularly.

Activities and Services

There are a range of activities to suit each individual, depending upon the stimulation needed. These range from:

  • one-to-one and group activities
  • regular attendance of a music therapist
  • visits from professionals such as chiropodist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist
  • regular attendance of a beautician
  • games, books, videos

Wychwood House is regularly visited by the local GP Practice, including the doctor, the district nurse and a prescribing nurse.
